Laurel Heights, San Francisco CA

A usable front yard, a rare find in San Francisco, provided an unusual design opportunity. The Mediterranean architecture directed the design of a medieval style garden with three terrace levels. Connecting the house to the outdoors, the upper terrace is patterned as a Persian rug with marble tiles. The middle terrace is solidly paved with botticino marble, and the lower terrace is paved in a broken pattern, anchored by a custom fountain.
